About

The Letter Carriers' Food Drive is the largest annual nationwide food drive. On Saturday, May 10th, letter carriers will collect donations of food along with the mail. Volunteers will be stationed at post offices across the city to help.

Age: Must be at least 8 years or older. (Children must be supervised by an adult.)

What: Help sort the food as it comes in to the post office with each letter carrier completing his/her route. Volunteers will sort the donated food and load it onto a Regional Food Bank trailer.

Bring:

Yourself and some friends

Sunscreen

Closed toe shoes (no flip flops)

Hat/sunglasses

Lightweight gloves

A lawn chair for while you’re waiting for the letter carriers to arrive

Radio

Book

We Provide: Water, snacks and lots of gratitude for your help

Be prepared to work outside, however the weather.

Some lifting required; bags and boxes of cans are heavy!

Shift end times will vary based on how quickly the letter carriers for each site return. You can expect to finish around 5 or 6pm.

This event is not eligible for completion of court-ordered community service hours.

Requirements

Also, remember to bring some canned food donations. Most needed items include: canned meats, meat-based soups, canned fruits, canned vegetables, peanut butter, and rice and beans.
